About the Beekeeper
Jeff was first attracted to beekeeping as an adult after experiencing his first dive into a hive with a close friend. Honeybees contribute significantly to both agriculture and biodiversity and it was this experience, combined with his interest in conservation and local agriculture, that sparked a new found love. Although, his wife might argue it is an obsession.
Like so many beekeepers, he has experienced the joys and sorrows of beekeeping. From battling environmental factors, to learning of an allergy to apitoxin, his passion has continued to help him persevere. Today, he has honeybee colonies located in apiaries around urban central and rural eastern North Carolina and produces small batches of raw local poly-floral honey that is primarily available to customers within 15 miles of his apiaries. He says, "I believe in focusing on providing raw local honey to members of the community. Your flowers may have even been visited by some of my bees."
